A POTTED HISTORY OF SPLASH! & KICKING GIANTS

Splash! were formed in the early 1980's, with a line up featuring:
Ian Gillott [Lead Guitar & Vox], Gary Holmes [Drums & Vox],
Colin Murden [Bass & Vox], and
Simon Taylor [Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vox]

The boys originally started as a covers band working the club circuit, but soon began writing & recording original material. After winning a Battle Of The Bands contest at
Rock City, Nottingham, they went on to record a Janice Long Radio One session at Maida Vale,
and a T.V appearance on Central TV show Popwatch.
This led to label interest, resulting in demo sessions for E.M.I, Arista and Island Records.
The band also toured & gigged
extensively, including a number of shows at The Marquee.
After much effort to get signed, but to no avail, the band changed line-up, adding keys and backing vocals, and Si's brother Chris on bass: Renaming to Kicking Giants.

By the end of the 80's, it was time to move on. All members still make music.

The band occasionally hold reunion gigs: there is a fan page here
